The town was one of the last Moorish cities to fall to the Conquistadors and there will always remain a fierce individual passion to the Rondenan identity. In summer evenings, the streets are full of festivals, the most famous of which is the Pedro Romero feria held in September beautifully depicted by Goya. Ronda, and this romantic region inspires some of the most famous writers, poets and free thinkers.
